Photos: On the road in northern Lebanon

When my mum and I took a tour to the Cedars of God and Bsharri in northern Lebanon, the views of the Qadisha Valley were almost as incredible. It was the most scenic road journey I’ve ever taken. I was in the back of the car (slightly shielded from just how terrifying Lebanese roads are) and, of course, snapping photos the whole time. I don’t know the names of the individual landscapes or how to get to them, only that we were in Bsharri and passed the Qadisha Valley, so this won’t be a guide or even a story – just photos I want to share to show how beautiful Lebanon is.

Look at those houses! I’d love to explore those streets close up.

I love the sunflowers in this next one.

And the tower in this one. The Qadisha Valley is one of the holiest places in the Christian monastic community.

There were lots of crosses dotted about, even in incredibly difficult-to-reach places.

The plants (trees?) might spoil this photo for some people (imagine an unobstructed view of that canyon!) but I quite like them.

This was closer to Beirut.

Finally, this isn’t northern Lebanon anymore, but we caught this beautiful view of Jounieh on the way back to Beirut.

I’d love to explore more of Lebanon’s countryside.
